HostingCon 2006 News, Hosting Discounts

  • No Related Post

The one year birthday episode of the Web Hosting Show is ready for download. Other than talking about what the podcast had done in the past year, we covered some pretty big Web hosting news. From HostingCon to wire tap hosting discounts, here is the week that was in the Web hosting world.

As companies and individuals continue to expand their use of hosting services and hosted applications, hosting providers have new opportunities to provide valuable services to their customers. HostingCon 2006 will feature three keynotes that will expose the trends in the hosting industry, what successful hosting providers are doing to succeed, and how the hosting industry fits into mainstream IT.

Once again HostingCon makes it into another edition of the Web Hosting Show. HostingCon 2006 is shaping up to be one conference that can not be missed. Here are just a few names that have so far been confirmed for the big event.

Thornton May - Executive Director and Dean at the IT Leadership Academy
Ian Andrusyk - President and CEO of FastServers.Net
Lou Honick - CEO of HostMySite.com
Robert Marsh - CEO of EV1Servers
Jeffrey Stibel - President and CEO of Interland

Web hosting provider ThinkHost announced on Friday that it is putting its support behind efforts to oppose the Bush administration’s claiming the right to impose wire tapping on American citizens.

Now I am not going to give my opinion one way or the other on this matter. I really do not want hate mail from either side of this argument right now. What I will talk about is ThinkHost’s promise. They say for every dollar a customer gives to one of the approved organizations, ThinkHost will provide the customer with two dollars of free Web hosting services, up to a maximum of $50 annually.

E-mail hosting provider Webmail.us announced on Wednesday it has released a new service, the Webmail company directory. The company directory is targeted to companies with fewer than 200 employees, but Webmail plans to scale the feature to support larger companies.

So what is Webmail.us doing here? The Web mail company directory provides email administrators and users a number of capabilities. E-mail administrators can create multiple directories across multiple domains, as well as the ability to specify which users should be included in each directory. This is one more useful tool from the folks at Webmail.us.
