An interesting concept to be sure, this Strumba.com appears to be a great new way to gain feedback and even constructive criticism on artwork, poems and the like.

Have you ever wondered how others would rate your artwork, what they might say, how they could help you grow in an anonymous, safe setting? A new website has been founded to provide just that service and its name is Strumba.com.

The founder, Jonathan Carp states, “I have always felt that we grow more as artists and human beings when we are in a setting of honest critique and feedback. We live in a society that is all about making people feel good about themselves. At times, this is at the expense of the real growth that occurs with honest feedback.”

The website which Dr. Carp, a dermatologist with a passion for photography and poetry, states will remain free, allows members to upload poetry, photography, paintings, and short stories. Other members then rank the art on a scale and leave comments of constructive critique and feedback. Members often periodically check comments and on many occassions make simple adjustments based on recommendations by other members. They can then see if there rankings increase.

Professional artists are also welcome and are given free exposure of their artwork and a free link to their homepage. “I want amateurs to be able to discover the art of professionals and learn from them and/or become buyers of their art. The feedback from professional artists is what is going to make this site special. I would be thrilled if strumba.com became a place where more people started to become excited about art and its varied expressions,” said Dr. Carp. [Read the rest]
