Blogsome: More Than Blogger?

Last month I had a problem with Blogger. This started me looking at other options. For me, Word Press and Movable Type are not options, currently. My web host was a good bargain, has been reliable for half a year now but I did not pay the extra for setting up a blog on my site. So, I am left with Blogger and other free hosted blog services. That works out ok. I do like the Blogger community which is evolving in new directions since the merge with Google.
However, I discovered Blogsome. It wasn’t the only free blog host I found. But, it runs on Word Press and gives you a lot of freedom to play with the layout and set up of your blog. Not all the free hosts allow that. For me the real draw is creative freedom and learning to use Word Press, an indie blog software compared to Blogger. I have to admit I have some small snobbish-ness about stepping out from a massive blog empire and running with a blog host which is still an unknown and growing.
If you sign up at Blogsome you will have a subdomain name for your blog, just as Blogger does. You also have a new hosting site which is growing and getting the odd bug out. Overall, it lets you move your blog from Blogger and use Word Press. It’s for you to decide if this is worthwhile for you.
Myself, right now I’m keeping my Blogger blog. I want to remain in that community, have a login and a profile for commenting on other blogs. But, I am setting up Blogsome too. It’s going to be a topical blog which would be a good thing as far as getting listed in web directories. They prefer blogs which focus on one issue, theme or topic and tend to lump the rest in a Personal category.
Happy blogging!
