Google Reader is very interesting. Partly cause you can send tidbits to your blog (Blogger) or email them out. Google also took over the newsgroups from Deja not so long ago. I still hope they will do more with these. Once upon a time the newsgroups and Usenet were a great resource, the best place to find information and other people who have all the same odd quirks and hobbies as yourself.
Anyway, Google Reader has potential. But my first poking around tonight wasn’t hugely successful. I’m not a tech geek, I freely admit I could have missed something. Still, I found a way to add a new feed but I could not completely get rid of a feed I had added and changed my mind about. I seem to be stuck with a defunct Yahoo Group for ASCII art, no posts in years.
Don’t be put off by my blunders. I really do think this is going to be a great thing. To add a feed you just click “Your Subscriptions” at the top of the frame. Glance to the right and you will see “add a feed” highlighted. All you need to do is type in (or use copy and paste) the URL for the blog or RSS feed of your choosing.
You can also set up feeds by topic. This will be a great asset as you build your list of feeds. Anything that keeps some organization is a good thing.
