Really, it is no secret that Computer Associates puts out some great software solutions. And in keep with that mindset, they have purchased e-mail archiving software program that is sure to add something truly valueable to those needing to archive email. Speaking for myself, I will stick with Aid4Mail as it has proven itself to be reliable to me, personally.
Computer Associates this week made public its acquisition of an e-mail archiving software vendor whose technology CA says will help round out its BrightStor storage management suite.
CA did not disclose how much it spent on iLumin Software Services, which was founded in 1996 and is based in Reston, Va.
For now, CA will sell iLumin’s Assentor product line as is, with plans for further integration into its storage and broader management portfolio down the road. CA says the buy brings cross-platform e-mail security, archiving and data protection to its BrightStor management suite.
Industry watchers say the technology will help CA address a growing need among its enterprise customers, which are being called upon to manage e-mail in line with compliance requirements. [Read the rest]
