CSS Is Not Just For “Big” Sites

  • No Related Post

Building sites using CSS for layouts instead of tables is becoming more commonplace as CSS offers more benefits. It makes a site more search engine friendly, easier for screen readers to decipher, and faster loading pages. The designers of well known sites have taken the time to convert their layouts to CSS and this prestigious list includes Mercedes-Benz USA, MSN, Lego, ABCNews, BusinessWeek, and much more.

CSS is not just for big sites. Many personal and small business sites are using CSS. It makes it easy to make changes as demonstrated in the beautiful CSS Zen Garden, which we’ve reported in the past. CSS Tableless Web sites lists over 1300 sites using CSS by letter and by special categories such as Accessible Sites, Big Sites, CSS Resources, Non-D (this means the site is too small for the Big Sites list, but it is neither a personal or a designer’s site to show even small businesses do it), and Well-Designed Sites.

I’m sure there are thousands more and I’m always on the lookout or people graciously let me know about such sites. I’m trying to improve the list to include more quality sites, but judging is tough because it’s subjective.
