Getting my pages *off* Google

This happens more often that you might think. And if you are not careful, you might just find yourself in this person’s position!

I have just rebuilt my site and got rid of a lot of obsolete pages. Unfortunately Google still lists them.

Is it just a matter of time before they drop off the Google radar? I’ve been spidered a few times since the new look a few weeks ago. Is there anything I can do to let Google know not to show those pages?

Yes, I could have them showing anyway, or redirect the 404 to index.html but neither of those is ideal. [Read the suggestions]
