Is Web Presence Important?

I still remember how things were when I first got Online. Now I was far from being first, but about the time I got into the Internet way of life things were already starting to change. I started seeing URLs listed on commercials, products and services. It seemed like all the big business were just starting to get a presence on the Web.
Now lets flash forward to the present day and time. Now it seems like everybody has a Web site, a blog, or some means of sharing information about themselves or what they do Online. How important is it to have a presence Online now compared to just a few years ago? In my opinion, I would say it depends on what you do.
For individual folks out there, it might be a little less important for you to come up with a Web site. Sure you could have one and put up a few personal things about yourself. The fact is though that you do not have to do so to survive. Most of the time that is the case. In my line of work, writer and contributor it is a little more important. I needed a place to show off my resume and some of my current projects.
That is how MitchKeeler.com was born. This way I had something to show folks who wanted to hire me and I didn’t have to worry about file formats or actual paper work. I just pointed them to the domain and asked if they had any questions. Now that is not the case with every career. I doubt that a fire fighter would need a Web site to fight fires. A Web writer does need a Web site though. Why? To show others what he has done Online.
Now lets talk about companies, large and small. No mater the size of your business, it would not hurt you to get a Web site. More and more folks are turning to the Web to find out more about things. They want to know more about your company or business. Who are you? How long have you been around? What do you provide? What makes you special? All these questions and more should be answered on your company’s Web site.
