In a few months you will be able to toss yet another huge company into the domain name registration business. New features, including DNS management and URL forwarding, will be available to both new users and owners of the 200,000 domains EV1 currently manages through the OpenSRS platform.

EV1 will also offer an integrated reseller interface for domain names, SSL certificates and website builder software. “This project is part of our ongoing effort to support our customers’ businesses,” says Marsh.

I’m excited to see what they plan on rolling out with in the second quarter of the year. Could they be some real competition for the other big boys on the block right now. I really do think they have a chance to make an impact. If they do what they have done in the Web hosting server business, they might just be on top of the mountain in a couple of years.
