E-Mail:

Lingo and Sun Rocket

A while back I wrote an article about Lingo. In case you forgot or never read that article (shame on you), Lingo is a VOIP telephone service. I discovered it on a Google search one day. After I signed up for Lingo and received my equipment, I got an offer I could not refuse! That offer came from Sun Rocket in the snail mail.

They were offering a deal that sounds almost too good to be true. No setup fee. No activation fee. Nothing needed to get started. However, if you pay $199.00 up front and respond by March 31, using the super secret code, you can get a set of free Uniden phones. I quickly jumped online and went to Sunrocket. The bird is sitting on the phone! I paid via credit card my $199.00 and within 5 days, I had everything just as promised.

I charged the phones for 20 hours as suggested by the documentation. I hooked up my sun rocket box and used my other set of phones to test it. I am happy to report that I have had four or five conversations that have lasted 2-3 hours each and numerous shorter calls. No VOIP service is flawless, but this one seems close. On top of that, do the math and you are paying $16.56 per month! That includes local and unlimited long distance in the U.S and Canada!

The Uniden phones have a speaker phone built in and the quality is superb! I can sit the phone on my kitchen counter and walk across the room and be heard crystal clear so I am told. It may help to have a big mouth as well! Although you have to pay extra to talk overseas, that is no big deal for me as I do not know anyone over there to call. $22.09 a month for Lingo or $16.56 a month for Sun Rocket. Which shall I choose? Since the quality is at least as good on Sun Rocket as on Lingo and by my anecdotal test, Sun Rocket is superior, I am canceling Lingo.

Both services are great and FAR cheaper than SBC and MCI. If you have broadband and are sick of paying sky high phone bills, check these out. To be fair, I want to tell you what Jim said to me about Lingo.

“Don’t forget to tell your readers that referrals get a $25 bill credit for both the current Lingo user and the person they refer, so it’s pretty easy to effectively get the service for free right now by referring a few friends and family members.

If they signup through LingoRebate.com, they also get a $20 rebate.

Thanks!”

With that, I’ll let you choose. As I have stated, both services are very good and recommended. If you call Europe a lot, go with Lingo. If you are calling within our borders or Canada, then go Sun Rocket. Either way, you will be glad you did.

ITP (Internet Telephone Provider): This is a very good VOIP service. Much cheaper than Vonage and more features than Sun Rocket. No up front annual payment, no contract. Free 3 months to anyone that comes from Sun Rocket as well with a promo code. 888-487-1110

Hi, I signed up for Lingo. It offers ‘International Phone Numbers’ – you can get a local phone number in the UK even if you’re in New York. My relatives in the UK could dial a local number for them, and reach me in the US. Lingo users can order International Phone Numbers for 14 countries. I think more countries are included in a user’s unlimited calling plan than any other provider – 22 countries in all. For thousands of SunRocket subscribers who found their phone lines disconnected this week after the start-up Internet-phone service provider abruptly shut its doors, can have a try at this offer from Lingo.

A special promotion located at http://www.lingo.com/sunrocket gives users a choice between two plans.

Though the sudden shut down of SunRocket affected my business, but I cared to manage my problems by signing up with Lingo two weeks back. They ported my number very quickly than I expected. I am really pleased with their customer service and quick responses.
