Personal Media Aggregators are the road to create instant-vertical-communities by way of becoming fulcrum points around which news, commentary, discussion, and networking opportunities around a very specific topic, brand, celebrity or writer can become a cohesive aggregating force.Somewhere at the crossroad between personalized RSS news aggregators, of which a few have appeared during 2004, and what Marc Canter defined as DLAs or Digital LifeStyle Aggregators, that this new community-enabling technology finds it place.
The idea behind Personal Media Aggregators is that you extend the online conversation around a certain topic of interest (a product, person, news item, event, anything people can think of) by creating various information channels and discussion areas around that same topic.
I call these time-extended events around a certain topic, product, happening, personality or other entity X-Events.
Of course there are RSS and other tools that by themselves are very helpful, but there’s not yet an easily accessible, integrated tool available that combines all of these.
Especially Web developers and Flash specialists are kindly invited to fine-tune with me the requirements and future characteristics of the coming Personal Media Aggregator.
