After my recent post about “How Do You Create a Web Site?” I received several E-mails asking the same questions. There are many questions in the world of Web site creation or Web hosting, so I am not surprised. Here’s a good sample of the average E-mail.
Thank you for the article Mitch. Now for a newbie’ type question…
What is available out there for someone like me to create a CSS Web site (IE: CSS For Dummies software…) ????
Yes, I do use Front Page. However, the only real tool in it to create columns are Frames and I am well aware and understand the down side of creating a web page(s) via Frames.
I would dearly love to create, perhaps obtaining would be best, a CSS template that allows the top banner, a left side column and the main column for page text/dialog. To indicate that I am just learning HTML is an understatement. Thus,
at this time, I am limited in coding/scripting knowledge.Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
The only good software I know of that really works, as far as CSS editing and creation goes, is TopStyle. It will edit CSS, HTML and XHTML. Another good point is it will not cost you an arm and a leg like some of the other Web page editors out there today.
As far as learning how to work with CSS or ways to use CSS, there are a lot of good references here on Lockergnome. A few other resources are A List Apart and W3 Schools. I have even ran across a Web site that does a good job at listing almost all the CSS properties out there today. CSS really is the way to go with learning how to edit pages, so I suggest that anybody who is interested to check out those Web sites.
If you have any other Web hosting or web design questions, please send them this way! I’ll do my best to help out as many people as possible.
