A History in Maps on the Web

It’s a history in maps! Uh, yes it does sort of sound like some high school movie I suppose. Regardless, I think that Nevada’s idea to to put these key maps on the Internet for all to enjoy.
I realize that this may not seem like that large of a Web project. But the reality is that it still has to be maintained and as many of you can attest to, that can prove to be a pretty big job once you get knee deep into it.
The UNLV Libraries have announced “Southern Nevada and Las Vegas: History in Maps” which is a digital project featuring over 80 historical maps. It’s available at this link.
You can search the collection by keywords or browse. I decided to browse since it’s only 88 maps. Maps show up ten at a time with thumbnails. Click on the map image for extensive information on the maps. An ongoing narrative for the maps would be nice, but I like what’s available here.
