NewsGator & Firefox

Here is a forum poster that seems to be having issues with getting Firefox to cooperate with his use of NewsGator. Back when I was still using the NewsGator program, I too suffered with a similar problem. The solution I chose was a little different that the advice “Gir” received.

Gil - I’m not exactly sure what probably you are having. I switched to Firefox several months ago and use it diligently with NewsGator. I did have to tune a few things.

It sounds like you might be having the Windows “Locate Link Browser” bug. In this situation, whenever you click on a URL link, a “Locate Link Browser” window pops up. I’m not totally sure this is your probably (based on how you’ve described it), but I had this problem also when I started using Firefox.

Here’s the solution to the Locate Link Browser problem:

Right click on the start menu.
Choose Explore
Choose Tools->Folder Options
Click on File Types
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol
Click on Advanced
Click on Edit (when the Edit File Type window appears)
Clear out the DDE Message Field
Click on OK
Click on OK
Repeat this for URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy

If you are having a different problem, if you give me a little more detail I’ll try again.Brad Feld
