User-Centered Deadlines

In response to Matt Hartley’s post User-Centered Design, which was, in itself, a response to her original post How Do They Do It?, Donna Maurer writes:

Actually, if you have a deadline, user centered design should be the first thing you do. Figure out what the real users need out of the system and what their skills and abilities are (or aren’t) and the rest of the process will be much smoother. There’s nothing like knowing what you are going to build before you start building it ;)
