A Call For Sun To Loosen Its Grip On Java

The call for Sun Microsystems to free up the source for Java has been heard and rejected. IBM had asked Sun to offer the source for Java as Open Source so that innovation could continue before Microsoft began to catch up. Sun countered IBM by suggesting that they first release the code for their DB2 database and other software before pointing fingers.
