What is the definition of marriage?

A funeral where you can smell your own flowers :)

Regards from lefty, coming up on 16 years of (damn near) wedded bliss.

When is a wedding day more like a funeral? Well, research has found that many marriages begin to deteriorate (believe it or not) right after the wedding! Sad but true. Something like 60% of marriages end up in divorce and in cities like Los Angeles it's 80%. One of the problems is the unrealistic expectations that are placed on marriage and each other by both parties. Another problem is that those getting married generally don't know each other and in some instances don't even like each other. But with patience, honesty, trust and common goals things can work themselves out. Best of luck!

I hear you. However for me it is gettng out of the midwest back to the rural reaches of the northern rockies.

While I've met some wondeful people, something about city folks just finally got to me.

Thanks for your kind comments.

I did try writing a book when I was in my twenties, but since I didn't have the experience that was necessary, I received rejections----which burned me out very quickly.

Now that I have been published as a columnist, with hundreds of articles out there, I suppose I should try again. But it's even more difficult to get published a book nowadays, than it was 20 years ago...unless you do it on-line, of course...but I'm not geeky enough to do something like that. I have NO idea what's involved.

Anyway---thanks so much for your comments! You have been kind.
