5 ‘Freebies’ Everyone Should Try Out

I love free software. Don’t you? Well, if you do, here is just a small list of five free programs that I personally enjoy using. I suggest that you try these programs out if you haven’t already.

  1. CCleaner
CCleaner, ask known as ‘Crap Cleaner’ is an extremely useful tool for those people who are either too last to clean their computer, or don’t know how to. Well, fret no more because that’s exactly what this handy tool does for you. CCleaner will clean out Temp folders, old disk data, cookies, and much more. You can even choose specific folders to clean out. Not only that, but it’ll make your computer seem like it’s running a lot faster.

  2. TweakUI/TweakVI
I know that there are a lot of people out there who wish that they can ‘tweak’ with Operating System a little. Well, with these handy programs (TweakUIfor XP, TweakVI for Vista), that’s exactly what you can do. There are so many ways of tweaking your current OS. Have fun experimenting. (Sorry to the Apple and Linux fans. This one’s for Windows only.)

  3. WinPatrol
Another handy piece of software that all Window Users should be using. Winpatrol is basically a little “Patrol dog” that stops unwanted start up programs, monitors the programs that are running just like Task Manager. It also tries to detect when a malicious program is taking control of your system. This is a very nifty tool, and although the PLUS version will cost $30, the freeware version works fine.

  4. Trillian
These days, everyone is on the Internet chatting. But there are so many chatting programs to choose from. Which one are you supposed to get? In case you have friends who only use AIM or MSN, and you want to be able to talk to them without having to keep switching instant messaging programs, Trillian is the download for you. With Trillian, you can log into IRC, AIM, MSN, Yahoo! Messenger, and ICQ all at the same time. It also supports Audio chatting, chat rooms, tabbed chatting and more. If you’re an avid ‘chatter’, this is a must have.

  5. TrueCrypt
Your data is very sensitive, and you want to keep it as secret at possible don’t you? You wouldn’t want strangers snooping around your hard drive looking for your bank information now would you? TrueCrypt is a great way to keep someone from getting your private information. This program creates a virtual encrypted version of the disk or file you’re currently encrypting and shows it as a real disk. It’s a bit hard to use so you should consider to check out this guide.

Enjoy.
