Mom and Dad Windows Nightmare.

A few minutes ago I heard my mom freaking out, I ask her what the problem is and she says the internet just stopped and a pop up says your computer is infected.  I finished up what I was doing and went to see what her problems were.  The internet didn’t close, it had up a sketchy website that said your computer is infected, and had a window that said scan now.  She clicked scan now and it started a download, luckily AVG caught it and it was a trojan downloader.  Its amazing how gullible computer illiterate people are to download these things.  It would have been a shame if she didn’t call for me, their computer would be infected up to the DVD drive with trojans.  This is a good reason why i have a trusty mac.  Yep, I think I’m a fan boy now.Edit:  I did a little research and I found the site and how big of problem it is.  This program called XPAntivirus is a huge trojan downloader, that infects your computer slowly, and it’s a pain in the crack to get rid of.

XPAntiVirus (also known as XP Anti Virus, XPAnti Virus and XP AntiVirus) is fake spyware removal tool that is usually downloaded onto your computer by a Trojan (most likely the Zlob Trojan) or under dubious circumstances without your consent. Once downloaded, XPAntiVirus begins to haunt the user by displaying false security alerts and “detecting” fake threats. The purpose is to get the user to purchase the full version of XPAntiVirus spyware removal application.

Here is a link to a site explaining XPAntivirus and how to get rid of it.
