Newbie Ubuntu

Before i purchased my mac I got tired of windows and decided to download a linux iso and give it a try. Most people that are computer power users venture out and try new operating systems. Ubuntu was pretty straight forward, you download a free iso, use your program of choice to mount the iso to a cd, and install or run from a live disc. A live disc allows people to get a taste of ubuntu without installing it on their hard drive, you are strictly running the OS (operating system) from the disc. Live discs may be slow and you might not be able to do all the things you want to but it allows people to get a feel for linux with out messing with their hard drive. I popped the disc into my drive and I immediately installed it because i didn’t want to sit their with a live disc. The installation of ubuntu is kind of confusing it is hard to dual boot it unless you know what you are doing, I for one did not know what i was doing and completely wiped out windows xp from my hard drive (my bad i know). Don’t let this discourage you, I did some research and found plenty of tutorials that show how to properly dual boot Ubuntu with other OS’s. After i got my ubuntu install all sorted out I had the joy of trying to get my wireless network card to work on it. I found out that linux does not get along very well with some network cards, and i had one of those cards. I did plenty of research and tried to build my own driver, tried to use a windows driver, and countless other things. I finally found a solution in the ubuntu forums that allowed me to use a very unstable driver, it worked, but not for long. I finally gave up with the network card and ripped out my drive so i could experience ubuntu with a hard wire internet. I must say linux has come a long way, it is a very straight forward system, it has a very clean appearance and did everything i wanted it too. I would recommend the newest ubuntu to any one that is curious about tyring a new operating system. I’ll furnish some links below.
