MonsterCrap

I’ll never buy another Monster Cable product and neither should you!

According to reports, Monster Cable has been going around, suing small and large businesses that simply use “Monster” in their name.

If it wasn’t already perfectly clear by now that Monster Cable’s cables aren’t really worth the price (or any price above the cost of a coat-hanger), and that they’re only using those bloated markups to perpetuate their reputation as money-grubbing lawsuit-happy snakeoil peddlers, we’d call your attention to their latest target: Monster Mini Golf, a chain of glow-in-the-dark mini-golf courses based out of Rhode Island. Apparently Monster Cable claims that the Monster Mini Golf brand is confusing to the public and dilute their trademark. Of course, this suit isn’t really any more absurd than their suits against Monster.com, the Chicago Bears (aka the “Monsters of the Midway”), or the Pixar film Monsters, Inc. — that is to say, it’s equally and completely ridiculous. But hey, when you’re making 1000%+ margin on merch, you can only swim in entire pools of liquid gold so long before seeking out the thrill only found in wasting taxpayer dollars on frivolous lawsuits.

When there are so many better cables out there for less money, why give your hard earned dough to this disgusting company? Spread the word and tell your friends to never buy Monster Cables again!

Once again, it looks like the methodology is flawed - also I see no mention of componentry. If I did a test with inferior equipment, I probably could hear no difference either.

I repeat the above statement - ask anyone with a system capable of resolving the difference.

Just as the effect of Koni or KYB shocks is minimal on a ‘62 Chevy Impala, the effect of Monster Cable (or any other quality cable) will be minimal on inferior equipment.

If one uses Monster on a system that has poor circuit design, little to no current output, and a bad front end, it wil be hard to tell.

That is also not to say that Monster is the best cable out there - but it’s far from a rip-off

Using HDMI cables (your linked example) to judge Monster is really a poor one.

Monster is known for speaker wire, and interconnects for a quality audio system. It is there that they earned their reputation.

It is well deserved - ask anyone with an audio system capable of resolving the differences.

Any manufacturer should have the right to protect a copyrighted name, no matter the quality.

the orcale, don’t fall for the hype. See: http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/03/audiophiles-cant-tell-the-difference-between-monster-cable-and/

If you do some research on audiophile forums you’ll find that only the n00bs use Monster Cables. True audiophiles don’t use or recommend Monster Cables.
