Buying An iPhone? Don’t Go To An AT&T Store

Michael over at AppleGazette reports he bought an iPhone at an AT&T store that turned out to be defective. Worse, AT&T doesn’t want to do anything to help or take the product back.
Yesterday Michael wrote, “…I also called the AT&T store where I purchased it, and they have already agreed to replace it in the morning if I can’t get it fixed with Apple.” But now Micahel reports they’re not living up to what they said.
Well, the lady that told me that she’d take care of the iPhone problem this morning was wrong, because At&t cannot and will not do anything to help you with a defective or DOA product. They don’t tell you this when you purchase the $600 product at their store, of course, and apparently they didn’t tell all their employees either.
My suggestion to everyone is stay the hell away from At&t stores when dealing with your iPhone. They can’t do anything for you at all…all they’re going to do is try to sell you home cable/phone/internet service while all you’re trying to do is buy an freakin’ iPhone.
That’s pretty lousy but not very surprising to me that the AT&T Wireless stores cannot be more helpful. They’re probably bound by antiquated policies that prevent them from helping more. I agree with Michael, stay away from the AT&T Stores and go to an Apple store or buy it online directly from Apple.
