eBay User Faked Ratings and Power Seller with JavaScript

Websense is reporting on an eBay user that used JavaScript to alter his eBay merchant ID and rating so that it’d appear he/she was a Power Seller and had more positive ratings than he/she actually did.

The incident was reported to eBay, the listing was removed, and the merchant was banned. eBay is reported to have blocked this code but it’s not beyond reason that others will find ways to slip similar code into their auction listings.

This hack shows the need that eBay users click through to the user’s ratings and that you should carefully examine them.
