iPhone Looking Dim Without Flash

Apple has officially stated that the iPhone won’t support Flash at the time of its release. It is unknown if Flash will be added to the iPhone later by update or not.
On Monday, at the WWDC, Steve Jobs stated that developers should develop Web2.0 and AJAX applications for the phone. He went on to state that many things can be done as you could even access iPhone services using the browser and suggested that developers use Safari to develop their applications as Safari is the same on the Mac and the iPhone. But now we get this news that Flash will be MIA and without Flash, it’s hardly the same!
It’s pretty disappointing that Apple couldn’t get AT&T Wireless to permit a Software Development Kit so that full fledged applications could be developed for it. I have a feeling AT&T is also behind the lack of Flash.
WyldRyde IRC Network just started beta testing on a Flash IRC Web chat. We also started working on an iPhone version but now with this new we’re unsure how to proceed.
I’m sure all the blame lies with AT&T Wireless. This is the same company that used to make us rent phones and blamed it on FUD about other phones affecting the reliability of the phone system. It sounds like it’s doing the same thing all over again and all of us consumers are being led like “iSheep” into believing it.

I thought it was because they didn’t want any 3rd party apps at all. The exception being Google Maps (which Apple could have easily wrote themselves). If they allowed Flash then Adobe would be able to sneak in a back door to the iPhone by pushing out an upgrade to the Flash player, which would allow them to provide a set of public web APIs to interact with the iPhone and effectively promoting their own SDK based on Flash technology for the iPhone.
