Here Comes Satellite Navigation Spam

Does your GPS or navigation system interact with FM stations to provide traffic updates or other alerts? If it does, it’s probably vulnerable to receiving bogus signals from anyone with some inexpensive equipment.

Apparently there is no authentication model built into these systems to verify the validity of the alerts so anyone can submit fake alerts or even use it to send advertising messages.

The researchers that discovered this vulnerability are recommending that drivers to not react to any highly unusual messages received through these alerts.
