Can A Person Be Allergic to WiFi and Electromagnetic Fields?

  • No Related Post

Wow, one might think this is an April Fools joke but I assure you it’s not. A UK woman is claiming she’s allergic to WiFi and other radio waves and has resorted to painting her home with special WiFi blocking paint that costs almost $500 per can and also sleeps under a silver-plated mosquito net to block electromagnetic fields.

The 39-year-old is so sensitive to the electromagnetic field (emf) or ’smog’ created by computers, mobile phones, microwave ovens and even some cars, that she develops a painful skin rash and her eyelids swell to three times their size if she goes near them…

Doctors say there is little scientific evidence to back up a link between EMF and poor health. They claim the symptoms, often attributed to flu or viruses, are psychosomatic.

But campaigners disagree. They reckon around 500 people are already being treated for ES and as many as five per cent of the population could be affected.

Do you think anyone can actually be sensitive or allergic to radio waves and electromagnetic fields?

I read about this awhile back and she claims to get ill when she enters the room where the wireless access point is. Wi-Fi goes thru walls however, so I file this one under JUNK SCIENCE.

my life has been turned upside down since march 30th,2oo7. I had a severe allergic reaction to mold spores in a steam cleaner blew in my face. since then I cant tolerate flourecent lighting, the t.v. and barely able to be on my laptop long enough to complete this. I experience jerky movements’ dizziness’headache, dry lips, and last but not least…. breathing problems. my husband and kids are tired of living without a mom/wife that cant go anywhere because of allergens , including the lighting…… hope this helps with the original question…

I’ve been so sick from these electromagnetic and microwave fields. Like tonight, I started to feel especially ill - more so than I had all day - and I looked out my window only to notice my neighbor talking on his cell phone. Summers are horrible. Rainy, damp, foggy, or humid days are murder. Evenings and weekends, too - especially Friday night through early Sunday morning. I can feel people talking on their cell phones.

Karyl, look for Elves Against Elf on myspace. That’s me. I’m desperately trying to get other people to associate their symptoms with ELF exposure. Until we increase our numbers, I don’t think we’re going to be heard. We need more of us. Even with how sick these fields make me, I don’t know what else to do.

Also, join Lymenet and find an ‘LLMD’ in your area. It’s possible you have chronic Lyme/coinfections, though I honestly believe ELF exposure is the root cause of it. I have chronic Lyme, but I don’t think antibiotics alone will ever cure whatever infection these fields have caused - but maybe it will give you some relief.

I’m not sure about WiFi… But, EMF most definitely has physical effects.

Study through many scientific communities have shown that sensitive people (and, some not so sensitive) can get anything from a mild nausea to hallucinations, to skin rashes caused by high emf readings.

It’s been studied about the effects of microwaves, and others.
The thing that we have to remember is all of these things do cause an effect in our atmosphere… To dismiss them as junk science, or disbelief would be irresponsible. Most people boo it away because it feels like a threat against any WiFi users… and they don’t want to think of a bad side.

I do feel more research and trial and error has to be done over long periods… But, to dismiss it totally? No, that would be dangerous.

Years ago, we used to get a kick out of running under power lines with an open umbrella and watching the electricity arc to the umbrella’s metal tip.
I often wondered how electricity reacted to the metals in the body.

Nowadays, we are surrounded/bombarded by so many different types and strengths of EM fields that I find it entirely reasonable to believe that our bodies are being adversely affected.

Personally, I sleep tons better when the power goes out. :-)
I used to think that it was just the golden silence that helped me relax.

Curios about this, because I have been breaking out in rashes on my face that are so bad and the only thing new in my life is my laptop! and Wi-Fi connection!

It is not junk science. What the lady suffers from is known in Sweden as EHS, which stands for electrohypersensity. You can get it if you swallow barium and have an MRI. The only viral connection is EBV, but the sensitivity to the electromagnet waves is very real. It gives a woozy feeling, a headache, heart problems…etc…Iif a person who suffers from it takes vitamin D, spend some time in the sunlight, then get near the fields the symptoms become even stronger.
