On Monday Microsoft confirmed they sold 20 million copies of Windows Vista worldwide. Windows XP sold 17 million copies in the first two months following its 2001 release.
These numbers include retail copies, downloads from the Windows Marketplace Store, free copies ordered with free upgrade coupons that were given with new PCs since last October, and licenses for new computers purchased by PC makers.
“That would say that those (Vista sales) numbers aren’t all that great if that includes all that backlog,” said Michael Silver, vice president of research at Gartner, a technology research group.
Consumers seem to finally be catching on that there are better solutions from companies other than Microsoft.
I said it before and I’ll be saying it again…reinstall XP, or if you are due for a new computer try to get one with XP, buy a Mac, or try Ubuntu.
