How To Sync iCal and Google

Easily synchronizing Google Calendar and Apple iCal has been the holy grail for some. Many want to share calendars between multiple Macs or share their calendars with family, friends, clients, and coworkers. Spanning Sync makes all this easy but it comes with a very high price tag.
Spanning Sync just graduated from a free public beta and pricing was announced today at either $25 per year or $65 dollars for a non-expiring license. This puts it at about half the cost of the typical Mac OS upgrade or at the same price point as Apple’s iLife or iWork. I wouldn’t even consider it at this price as Spanning Sync is pretty much a one trick pony and it’s not even a trick I’m interested in.
Are you using something that’s more affordable or free? Please share your ideas and experiences in the comments below.

to whomever said “wahh”
I agree with the OP … it is way too expensive. $65 for a utility software is ridiculous. The price should be about $25 … $35 at most.

I’m trying out Spanning Sync right now. I’m not a fan of the price, but I do like the functionality. What are the alternatives? Have you tried gSync? I’m just curious.
