RIAA opposes Fair Use Act

It’s no surprise, the RIAA is opposing the Fair Use Bill that was Introduced In Congress.
According to a statement posted on the RIAA’s web site, the bill would “allow electronics companies to induce others to break the law for their own profit.” They also claim, “the difference between hacking done for non-infringing purposes and hacking done to steal is impossible to determine and enforce.”
Don’t you love how the RIAA tries to spin things their way. Most, people only want to be able to copy content they buy so they can listen/watch it on other devices. Only the RIAA considers this theft. Though I’m sure the book publishing industry would love to make you stop loaning your books to friends too.

“The American Public Vs The RIAA” takes on a similar feel to “Richard Tomlinson Vs MI6″ once again.

The RIAA and MPAA have become the Tobacco companies of the new millenium. I really think that if they took a more reasonable approach to fair use, music and movie lovers would take a more sympathetic view toward copywrite infringement. As long as they continue to pursue the ‘jackbooted thugs’ methodology, the consuming public will view them adversarily.

THE RIAA is just a giant corporation with way to much money and power. They use this money and power to take down kids for downloading illegal music for crying out loud. These guys are thugs!
