Vista hole allows files and folders to be deleted

Microsoft has admitted that Vista’s speech recognition features could be hijacked so that the computer tells itself to delete files or folders.
In order for the attack to be successful, the targeted system would need to have the speech recognition feature previously activated and configured. Additionally the system would need to have speakers and a microphone installed and turned on. The exploit scenario would involve the speech recognition feature picking up commands through the microphone such as “copy”, “delete”, ”shutdown”, etc. and acting on them. These commands would be coming from an audio file that is being played through the speakers.
Gee what happened to, “Vista is so secure it could run life support systems.” I sure wouldn’t want to be hooked up to Vista. Would you?

And so it begins…
You didn’t really think Vista was going to be any different than any of their other OSes in terms of vulnerabilities & weaknesses did you…oh, the naivete…
Seriously, this seems like a very minor issue and one that relies on specific configurations being in place.
That said, just goes to show this new OS is just as vulnerable (and in some cases more so) than its predecessors…
just one more reason I’m sticking with XP…no real reason to upgrade…

Just last night as I was powering down Vista, aka the Devil, it said it needed to install some critical updates. I let it go.
When I woke up this morning, I found Vista had deleted my Wireless Internet (Belkin) and had also deleted VLC Media Player. Why? I have no idea.
Thankfully I had XP installed as a backup.
