A seminal rock and roll voice, that of Ronnie James Dio, was silenced at age 67; months after being diagnosed with stomach cancer.
Dio came to prominence as the vocalist for Richie Blackmore’s Rainbow. He also sang for Black Sabbath at once point and had a semi-successful solo career.
Ronnie was short of stature but large of voice. It was odd, hearing that voice come from that fellow.
I can’t say I knew the guy but he seemed genuinely nice. His voice will live on.
