By default, when you open Outlook, it open to the Outlook Today view. In Outlook 2007, the Outlook Today pane includes a summary of your calendar appointments, tasks and messages. This is great for those people who want to see a quick summary.
Personally, when I open Outlook, I want it to open directly to my inbox. The nice thing about Outlook 2007, is that even though I’ve customized it to open directly to my inbox, I can still see a summary of my calendar appointments and tasks under the To-Do-Bar.
You can customize Outlook to open to any of your mail folders. To customize the startup folder in Outlook 2007:
- From the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Other tab.
- Click the Advanced Options button under the General section.
- Click the Browse button beside the Startup in this folder option.
- In the Select Folder dialog box, select your preferred startup folder.
- Click OK.
