In spite of the security concerns, there are some people still using Internet Explorer 6 (IE6). The French and German governments have expressed concerns about this browser. And now Google, through YouTube, is distancing itself from the IE6. YouTube will stop supporting IE6 beginning March 13, 2010:
“… “Support stops on March 13th. Stopped support essentially means that some future features on YouTube will be rolled out that won’t work in older browsers.”
For a security perspective, there is no legitimate reason for remaining with IE6. Rajen Sheth, Google Apps Senior Product Manager, recently posted encouragement to upgrade browsers. Unfortunately, Rajen Sheth does not mention the Opera browser.
