I love to hear about a company like Red Hat making a success with a subscription based business model instead of needing to sell proprietary software. It just goes to show that with the right product, open source can indeed be profitable.
Some of the big take aways here is that the big money is in enterprise computing, much of it is cloud based stuff. And of course last but not least, most of this subscription business is based within the Americas at some level.
Obviously in contrast to Apple or Microsoft, Red Hat’s sales are nothing to get too excited about. But when you consider what Red Hat has given back to the community over the years in contrast to some of the other companies out there, I am more than happy to see Red Hat succeeding like this.
