A curious reader asked for pictures of some of the guitars I’ve been speaking about recently. I do not claim to be a photographer; I was just the one with the camera at the moment.
My main guitar is a 1977 antigua (pukeburst) Strat. It has pickup upgrades and custom wiring, which I described earlier. Next is a late 90′s Made in Mexico Strat with an aftermarket reverse-headstock neck (that’s a fancy way of saying backwards). This guitar is tricked out with piezo pickups in the saddles, so it can create an acoustic sound along with the standard tones. The wiring is insane and in a constant state of flux. Next is a 1994 G&L Legacy with different pickups. On the right is a 1977 Telecaster with intentionally removed pickguard, new pickups, and a 4 way switch. Weighs a ton and plays like butter.
Below is a Gibson Historic 1959 Reissue Les Paul Plaintop. I haven’t had the heart (or need) to do anything to it (although it does have pickups waiting, just in case).
Your momma probably never told you this, but don’t forget, on cold, rainy days, to wear your tube rubbers.
