Gmail Goes CLI For The Linux Geek

CLIDid you know that there are a multitude of ways to get an alert to you incoming Gmail email? It’s true, even more interesting, there is a way to get your alerts via a command line interface. In Linux speak, that would be via the Terminal window.

Now as you will be able to tell pretty early on, if you are not used to working with bash scripts and the CLI in general, this is likely not going to be something you will want to fool with. That being said, from a very geeky perspective, it is still really cool.

Yes, you are going to get a lot more out of this script if you do two very important things. One, make it a bash-script.sh. Two, be sure to give it executable permissions. Without those, it is just a lot of text in a file doing nothing. Enjoy!
