Google CEO Say “No” to a Government Position

Who will be the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in the Obama administration? Apparently, it will not be Eric Schmidt. The Google CEO is staying with Google:

“Google Inc. chief executive officer Eric Schmidt won’t take a technology post in President-elect Barack Obama’s cabinet, according to news reports.

Reuters reported that Schmidt declined such a post in a TV interview Friday.”

There might be many others at Google that Senator Obama might want to consider. Two people on my list are: Marissa Mayer and Vinton Cerf. The CTO for the next administration will not only have to be knowledgeable about technology but that person will need an additional skill. That person will have to have stellar communication skills. In so many ways, the CTO will be doing public relations.
