The Environmental Working Group (EWG) is “a not-for-profit environmental research organization dedicated to improving public health and protecting the environment by reducing pollution in air, water and food.” The EWG has posted a list of fruits and vegetables with the highest pesticide load. The top five on the list are:
- sweet bell peppers
The item on the bottom of the list – with the lowest pesticide load – is onions. So many of those items at the top of the list are regular purchases for most households. It is a strong case for buying from truly organic growers.
