It has become an accepted part of the cultural landscape to see people with cell phones. Even children can chose a model in a variety of colors and offering a number of built in games. What most cultures take for granted now is available to the general public in Cuba:
“HAVANA – Cubans are lining up out the door and down the block at phone centres in Havana as cell phone service becomes available to all citizens for the first time.”

Certainly there is a demand. The question becomes whether people in Cuba can afford this luxury.
