Best Buy Sued for $54 Million for Lost Laptop

The lawsuit certainly generates headlines for the exorbitant amount demanded:

“…In her lawsuit, 37-year-old Raelyn Campbell says she wants to draw attention to the consumer electronics retailer’s consumer property and privacy-protection practices.”

The issue is serious. The matter of security and privacy of digital information is an ongoing issue. However, to have a lawsuit filed for such an amount makes the incident appear frivolous. It is unfortunate that, at first glance, Ms Campbell’s lawsuit appears farcical.
