Some states, like New Jersey, have legislation on texting and driving. It seems that an overwhelming number of the American public are recognizing that this is a significant danger on the roads:
“In a recent Harris Interactive poll, 89% of Americans said they would support legislation that outlaws sending text messages while behind the wheel. In fact, 91% of Americans believe that people who text and drive are as dangerous as drunks on the road.”
When the poll numbers are so skewed in one direction, it shows that the public has recognized the risks involved with texting while driving. The frustration is having the lawmakers draw up enforceable legislation and do it with some immediacy. Contact your legislator and be heard.
