If you were a Bank of America customer, you could be part of a settlement. It is not a payout in cash, but it is a reduced cost of some services, which translated into a saving:
“Bank of America is offering an $18 million settlement to a long-running privacy lawsuit that could be approved by a court hearing in San Francisco this fall.
At least $10.8 million will be made available to 35 million bank customers nationwide, on a first-come, first-served basis.”

Apparently, there are people who do not take advantage of such settlements. In this matter, hopefully the consumers will file claims and send corporations a clear and distinctive message… that customer privacy really still does matter.
