Video Playback In Ubuntu Fix

Thought I might pass along a little Saturday tip for you here. If you are using the default video playback settings to watch/playback video in Ubuntu only to find that it is just not living up to your standards, give this a shot:

Open a terminal window from Applications, Accessories. The using your mouse to cut and paste, place the following text into the terminal window.

sudo aptitude install libdvdcss2 libdvdnav4 libdvdplay0 libdvdread3 totem-xine

So what is this doing exactly? Well it seems like in some cases, the provided video goodies that Ubuntu offers for download, does not work very well with certain video cards. This bundle is known as GStreamer. In instances like this, we merely opt for the Xine set instead. From this point on, no more strange hues or other color weirdness. Enjoy!
