Identity Theft: Possibly 200,000 employees of Alcatel-Lucent at risk

The data have been missing for two weeks already. “A compact disc containing personal information, including Social Security numbers, of as many as 200,000 present and former Lucent employees has been missing for at least two weeks, Alcatel-Lucent told employees yesterday.”

It is ironic that the Alcatel-Lucent data were not encrypted. Security is one of the foci of the company. This data breach includes retiree information. Those individuals at risk can start security procedures by visiting the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) link for identity theft. Don’t delay – that data have been missing for far too long now.
