Back in 2003, Uwe Boll acquired the rights to a movie adaptation of Dungeon Siege, and boy does he like to make movies based on games, including Alone in the Dark and house of the Dead. His next movie beings filming Sunday, and is scheduled for release sometime in 2006. That movie, of course is the 2002 PC role-playing game Dungone Siege.
Brightlight pictures has announced the cast for the film. Farmer will be played by Jason Statham, who is best known for his role in Guy Ritchie’s Snatch, but has also qorked as a voice actor in some video games. Norrick will be played by Ron Perlman, who is best known for his lead role on Hellboy, as well as some voice acting in Halo 2 and Everquest.
The movie will also have Kristanna Loken, who played the lead roll in Boll’s adaptation of Bloodrayne, as well as … Burt Reynolds, who is appearing in his first fantasy film.
According to the press release, Dungeon Siege will feature Farmer on a quest to save his wife and child by defeating an evil army. How exciting … I just hope it turns out better than Dungeons and Dragons (and has more than one song).
