China is growing in the tech field to be sure, but India is dominating the mobile market according to the IndiaTimes. To be completely honest, I saw this coming for some time now. I also see them becoming a major player in the Linux market too.
India’s wireless sector, the world’s fastest growing major mobile market, added 1.09 million new users in April for services based on the Global System for Mobile communication platform, an industry body said recently.
The cellular operators’ association, which represents nine GSM carriers, said in a statement the new additions in the past month helped the GSM user base touch 42.12 million customers, up 55 percent on year.
GSM companies compete with carriers such as Reliance Infocomm Ltd who offer similar services based on code division multiple access technology. CDMA operators have more than 11 million customers.
Overall India has 53.78 million mobile customers. [Read the rest]
