If you’re an MPlayer or Xine user and prefer Konqueror over Mozilla, there’s a plugin available that will allow you to play videos directly from your browser. It’s still in pre-1.0 development and, being a KDE app, is called KMPlayer.
However, it’s also a stand-alone player with several features in its own right, including playback of DVDs, VCDs, and experimental support for direct playback from a television input. The software is actually a “KPart”, which is what allows it to be embedded into a KHTML interface (ie, Konqueror or Safari) to allow web playback.
Given it’s an add-on to MPlayer and Xine, I don’t see much use or advantage for it as a stand-alone player. But, for those of you hooked on KDE, at least you will no longer have to worry about firing up Mozilla to view certain sites.
