Even if you’ve already installed Office 2003 Service Pack 1, which was released last week, you still lack the latest Outlook junk e-mail filter definitions. This separate update applies to installations with or without SP1, so those that aren’t quite ready to step up yet can still enjoy a less spam-ridden day. Indeed, the filters have been less accurate as the weeks pass and spammers hunt for ways around the filtering of Outlook.
If you are planning to apply SP1, be sure to address applications that aren’t a part of the core suite, such as Visio, OneNote, Project and Project Server. They also have SP1 updates available, but are not applied via the main Office 2003 SP1 package. The Office Update process will catch them for you, but if you prefer downloadable versions, several packages will be needed. [Furo]
