Unneccessary Vista Services

Geez, there are alot of services in Windows Vista that just help themselves to an automatic startup…
Tablet PC Input Service: It’s not a tablet PC. Why, then, do you assume I would want the services of a Tablet PC input device I don’t have? Seriously.
Diagnostic Policy Service and Diagnostic System Host: Both “enable problem detection, [...]

The Terabyte has landed

As implied in the Title, my 1TB Hard Drive arrived yesterday and I’ve finished reassigning drives and moving my files around. Haven’t quite figured out what the M: drive will be assigned to, but I’m sure I’ll come up with something.
For those of you who are counting, the formatted space totals 3,409.37GB (3.33TB)! So far [...]

DOS Never had it so Good

As implied herein, the 1TB drive has arrived. One QuickFormat later, I started reassigning my drive letters. They go up to M:.

Smaller Drives will Develop a Complex

Need I say more? I ordered a 1TB HDD yesterday to replace two existing 500GB volumes which are both full of “Public Domain media governed under the Fair Use Act; which appears similar to a television show without actually being a television show”.
I ordered it 18-20 hours ago, and it’s “out for delivery” [...]

Is Buying a Good Car on Bad Credit Worth It?

Already this car is causing me headaches. Sure, it’s fun; but is it economical?
Arguments for “No”:
- Down payment split across six weeks; six payments of $500. Last chunk of the “financed down payment” coincides with first real payment. I make $980 a week, but I’m taking this Thursday off to yell at the trash men [...]

Spiffy new Hardware Upgrades

The site was down for two days. You may have noticed the errors. Y’see, what happened is that I got a package via FedEx. New stuff doesn’t combine well with my inborn need for instant gratification (Thank you, Internet Age). The package contained a motherboard (Asus M2V) and CPU (AMD Athalon 64 4200+ Dual-Core; what [...]

New Hardware Installed, More Coming

The server just got a new old secondary video card (ATI Radeon 9250). It’s not great, but it has eliminated the artifacting I was seeing in the old ATI Radeon 7500. Maybe the old one crapped out because it lost its heatsink a few years ago; hard to say. Regardless, that’s why the server went [...]

First Road Trip in the Car Completed

So, I took my first road trip in the new sports car. I went up and visited Dad, then took a drive through Rocky Mountain National Park. Evidently the toll station is closed at night and I can “please proceed” for free. So J and I went up to Long’s Peak and may very well [...]
