Adelphia-Comcast Conversion Complete

As many of you already know, Comcast recently bought Adelphia. Call it a merger or what have you, but it was a buyout. Anyway, my Adelphia service was switched over as expected. What I did not expect, however, was that my connection speed basically doubled overnight (See screenshot). When I saw this, I had to do a double-take to make sure I wasn’t copying from another system on the LAN.

J has clocked downloads from akamai.com at 3.2MBps. Verizon will be offering FIOS (Fiber-Optics, possibly at Gigabit speeds) within the next few years; I can’t wait.

The impressive boost in download speed comes at a price. Since the buyout, my Internet connection drops for a few minutes 5-10 times a day.
